Set in the middle of olive groves in Evia, with the sea in front and mountains behind, Eleonas is a wonderfully quiet, rural agro-touristic retreat hotel. Ten comfortable bedrooms, each with its own veranda, are in a Mediterranean-style villa. Their designs please in a simple, unfussy way. So don’t expect fancy design, antiques or smart decoration. Instead you will find pale wood furniture (excellent mattresses) and a light and attractive décor, in which the olive element is omnipresent. The living room has a roaring fireplace in the winter. In the summer it opens up to a large terrace overlooking the impressive expanse of the olive grove below, which stretches all the way to the sea. If you are interested, you can watch and learn a few things about the olive production. When they are not too busy, owners Marina and Stefanos Vallis will be more than happy to show you around. Their olive farm and the hotel are fully sustainable. The olives are organically produced, and the hotel has been awarded the “Green Key”. Eleonas is an unassuming, honest, lovely place, where you can relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. Enjoy the quiet and the outdoors, go for walks and swim in the sea. You will be well looked after.
Many things make Eleonas an exceptional hotel: the setting (so quiet), the views (beautiful), the meals (healthy and delicious) and above all Marina and Stefanos, who are charming and engaging hosts.
Don't expect too much from the village of Rovies, which is not particular pretty and more of a laid-back than a happening place.

Children from the age of six and above are welcome at Eleonas. There are 2 ground floor rooms that can interconnect with the room on the floor above to accommodate families, and the remaining three rooms on the garden level have a double bed and bank beds in a small separate space. The hotel is an excellent destination for active family holidays in Greece. Your children will of course enjoy going to the beach, but they can also have fun playing table tennis, table football and ‘real’ football (there is an enclosed mini grass football field) and using the outdoors exercise equipment. There is a playroom with a small library with children’s books, board games. Babysitting is not available and Marina and Stefanos kindly request parents to supervise their children at all times.
It is a ten-minute walk from Eleonas down to the pebbly beach. The sea is beautiful and perfect for swims until late in the season.
Walking and Hiking
The possibilities are endless and range from relaxing walks through forests to serious mountain treks. Marina can suggest some of the most beautiful trails – explore the Nileas Gorge, olive groves, Mount Xiron, the waterfalls of Drimona – and she organises guides walks as well.
You will find outdoor exercise equipment, a 5 X 5 football field and table tennis at Eleonas. There are also possibilities nearby for scuba diving, biking, horseback riding, tennis and sailing. Boat hire is possible too.
Other activities at Elenoas
Cooking classes, painting lessons, yoga, and weaving seminars can be arranged on request. In the autumn, so can see how the olives are harvested and you can learn how olive oil and other olive-related products are produced.
A beautiful half-hour drive by the coast takes you to Edipsos, a small town famous for its thermal springs. You can indulge in the luxury of a full spa treatment at one of the spa hotel, or head to one of the beaches where you can swim in rock pools fed by thermal water or the hot stream of water splashing down the rocks into the sea.
Eleonas is set on the hillside in the middle of an olive grove on the island of Evia, 500 m from the sea and a pebbly beach. It has stunning views over the sea towards the Greek mainland. The village of Rovies is about 1 km from the hotel.
Rovies is less than 200 km away from Athens, and it is a beautiful drive. Cross the bridge to Evia at Halkis and follow signs for northern Evia, Agios Ioannis Rossos, Kirinthos, Limni and Rovies. Alternatively, follow the national road up to Arkitsa and take the ferry to Edipsos (45 min), from where you take the coastal road towards Rovies (20 km). You should have a mobile phone at hand to call Eleonas Hotel when you reach the village, from where you will be picked up.
I have only praise for Eleonas. The hotel was beautiful, the surroundings perfect and the hospitality second to none.
We were spoiled by Marina and Stephanos hospitality , recommendations of things to do, attention to detail and wonderful food.
They really went out of their way to please everyone staying.
We truly enjoyed Eleonas and Rovies. We would definitely like to go back!!!
Thanks for your help in finding these little wonders!!
We again stayed at the Eleonas in Robies, Evia. Marina and Stefano are very civilized hosts. We stayed there four times in the past, and they never disappointed us.

It was an exceptional stay. We echo all the reasons given by the Norwegian visitors below. The place is authentic, eclectic, serene and magnificent. The hospitality, warmth and charm of Marina and Stephanos (proprietors) was exceptional. Just the thinking of this place is a form of relaxation for the mind.

The highlight of our 2 day trip to North Euboea was our stay at ELEONAS in the village of ROVIES. What we found was even more beautiful than we expected….This wonderful, family run hotel is situated on a hill – breathtaking views …- so the setting couldn’t be better. But ,what really impressed us was the attention given for each tiny detail. Eleonas has very obviously been designed with much love , sense for beauty and respect for the environment. It has that elegance and style that one finds in luxury boutique hotels. So, for all those who appreciate beauty ,peace and nature , this is the place to head for! The service is great, the breakfast perfect and the matresses the BEST in the world!!! SOOooo comfortable! And, the olive trees really look as if they are happy too!!! We would both love to return to Evia and Rovies just so as to spend a few nights at Eleonas’ And we did return this May!! We loved it so much, we stayed even longer than planned. It is such a tranquil, beauitul place, paradise for those of us who love nature with all natures colours and sounds. Marina and Stefanos are always so helpful and lovely company. This time we were also treated to a telescopic view of the moon….wonderful. We highly recommend this hotel for it’s peace, beauty and style.
Why are we back here for the third year in a row?
Why did we stay 18 days the first year when we had booked for only your days?
Why do we know that we will be back many more times?
Because of all of it! Because of everything!!
The relaxed atmoshere. The good feeling of beeing wanted. The food. The vegetables. The olives. The ice cream. The view. The olive groves. The silence. The noisy frogs. The beach. The good laughs. The spotless room. The crickets. Exploring the waterchannel.
